I did infact, not end up eating my own words! An honest Review of EGG's new song and MV, GIMMIESUM!

Time of writing is 4:28, I've been waiting for this song to drop for nearly 12 hours (ish) because despite the fact I called this song bad, I am actually very excited to listen to this song. Now, as I am writing this intro, I haven't listened to the song, nor have I even watched the music video, so I am truly excited to see if EGG is truly gonna make me eat my words, so. Let the honest review begin.... now!

The time I wrote the intro, was when the song initially dropped, however, I watched the music video about 9 hours later. This song dropped around 4:20amish british time.

Now speaking from a purely critical standpoint, this song is too short for what they were trying to accomplish. Like....

The song is 2:11 seconds and they spend bout 3/4 of that song singing 

'Neck go dumb

legs go numb My shit go Dumb Dick go dumb, come and GIMMIESUM'

And I don't personally know what Yayoi Diamond was smoking when she wrote these lyrics but very honestly, the lyrics are pretty bad, although EGG aren't really known for their lyrical prowess so I won't dog on them for that.

The main rapping part of the song, ie the verses weren't all that terrible, personally I thought they were pretty catchy actually, I wish they had more verses and less 'neck go dumbbbbbb' because that part sounded really bad.

When SHIBUYA came out, I called it dog water with glitter mixed in, but like 4-5 months later i sorely regret saying SHIBUYA was bad, not only because it actually grew on me, but because EGG seems to have turned their back on that eurobeat + hip hop sound that was genuinely interesting and replaced it with a sound I like to call, 'bogus gyaru trap'

Bogus because their attempt to appear and rappers is silly (at best) when you remember they don't even write their own raps, so if you were to replace the word 'bogus' with 'silly', I am essentially saying EGG make joke music, so does KOGYARU, because these magazines legitimately trying to make listenable music is hard to watch because they just don't.

If I were to lay on my valid criticisms of this new song, the song is far too short, the lyrics are kinda bad, and the chorus and intro are far too long for a song that short, they should've added more verses since the verses weren't all that bad and were almost kind of catchy.

My honest rating is like, a 3/10.

And I know, I went into this review knowing I would think this song was bad because I said it was bad before the song was released, but I (personally) think giving this hog wash a 3/10 was very generous because I don't even like trap music in the first place.

So, now for the music video. The music video and the song came out like 4 hours apart, which doesn't really make sense to me but this is EGG magazine, nothing they do makes sense.

Last time I had 2 main criticisms of EGG, the fact that they had minors in this music video and the fact that they did not credit AKB48 properly for ripping off their music video called 'Heavy Rotation'

I then stated this...

"It screams unprofessionalism and shows EGG's disregard for creativity or credibility because you're ripping off a music video with over 100 million views from one of the top 10 best selling girl groups in the world and the best selling girl group in Japan, and you just, don't mention you're doing a reenactment? And maybe on November 1st I will end up eating my words when they properly credit AKB48 but I think it's shameful to promote a music video that you have ripped off from another group so overtly as your own video? "

And now it's November 1st and guess who did NOT end up eating her own words, yes you are right it was ME! 

Once again, EGG does not directly show any credit to AKB for 'taking inspiration' from the Hebirote music video, and is even called out for this in the comment section for the music video, being the comment with the most likes, because EGG failed to properly mention who and what they were taking homage from to the point where people don't know if it's straight up plagiarism of the hebirote music video or a homage to it.

The music video for Hebirote is the work of another director (Mika Ninagawa), so for EGG to use her work and not credit her or the group she directed it for is a very gross lack of respect for other directors. And maybe EGG noticed people calling their music video theft (pakuri) so they switched things up last minute.

The music video essentially has 2 very contrasting scenes which may be the 'sweetness and spiciness' that they mentioned in the music video teaser on instagram, with the main scene actually being Momoa and Erika standing in like dark...bridge (? sorry I already forgot what happens in the MV I'm not going back to watch it) while the actual parts of the hebirote music video they ripped off only being short snipits throughout the music video, so they used the hebirote music video for the teaser but suddenly there's none of the scenes from the teaser in the music video? SO was ripping off AKB and Mika Ninagawa's work for the engagement or were they seriously just straight up ripping off the hebirote MV till they got all the plagiarism backlash and ran the change everything? Maybe we will never know,

Now my second bone to pick with EGG, and I only have 2, is the fact that again, there are MINORRSSS in this music video.

Now, I actually did go back and watch this MV a second time, and it is important to note that in this music video, there are actually no minors in the lingerie we saw in the PV or the magazine cover, so maybe my hunch that EGG went back to change the entire MV after all the backlash they got was correct, but, but but but.

The fact that they have minors in a music video about sex and dick and wet pussy, cmon EGG you literally have 1 job, DON'T SEXUALISE LITTLE KIDS! It's not that hard. SO yes, even tho the 3 minors in the music video aren't in the lingerie from the PV, they're still in a song called GIMMIESUM.... you can fill in the last word it starts with a D.

Also i lied, I have another bone to pick with EGG, drop the random AAVE please, point blank period what? Especially when Momoa is rapping that line IN BOX BRAIDS, EGG I have it out for you!

I think this review is over at this point. What is very obvious is EGG very blatantly ripped off the hebirote music video and couldn't be bothered to properly pay homage, the song is worse than mediocre and there are minors in a music video about gimmie dick and my pussy is wet.

I wonder how long we will let Reiwa EGG be pure shit because there is no other gyaru magazine putting out good volumes like they are. This whole gimmiesum shit is a mess, messy mv, messy song, messy controversies, maybe this song will blow up and be everywhere and EGG can HAHAHA in my face but huh....
